about

Released originally 2015 marking 20 years of existence. Now we can bring this album and aural balance to our preferred delivery method to fans here in Bandcamp.

We have added 5 additional tracks from that year as bonus.

Fade Records was created out of necessity in 1994.  At the helm is American DJ Chris Fortier. Chris and studio partner, Neil Kolo, needed an outlet to release the tracks they were producing together. With not many options in the States for their sound, it seemed obvious to start a label and create the opportunities themselves. The first release was in one-sided 12” promo in December 1994 called "...For All the People". In the month to follow, a 2nd track called “All I Got” was completed and pressed onto an official B-side in early 1995 to form the official launch of Fade Records. This release gave them a voice and platform for the future productions. The next two tracks, "Separation" and "So Good" were more highly praised and received heavy support from the biggest DJs out there, including Sasha, John Digweed and Dave Seaman. Equal support came from the USA from Kimball Collins, DJ Icey and John Debo as well as the brand new Mixmag USA (which eventually would be known as Mixer). This great support put the duo on the world stage and started scores of labels in the UK and USA demanding their talents for remix duties. After several years of building their profile through remixes and the odd single, Chris wanted to re-launch the label in the hopes to help discover and cultivate new talent from America. Steve Porter was the man for this job as Chris discovered him at age 17.  The sound of the label morphs and evolves with Chris Fortier’s own musical sound growth; always with an ear on the underground. The label spanning over the past 2 decades has seen an enormous amount of talent grace the catalog and it’s been an honor and privilege to be a part of some many of these careers. Fade Records has never existed for money or profit or hit singles, all of which have eluded the label. It’s only about quality music and quality people behind the music. Thank you to all the artists that have been a part of the history of Fade Records and thank you to all the music buyers, collectors and DJs that have supported our releases with your passion.
